It’s been quite the trip so far. A new life in New Hampshire, perhaps a new attempt at keeping up the blog? You never know.
One of my favorite stories is a short story by Kurt Vonnegut called Harrison Bergeron. It’s a story of a society where equality isn’t just a right, it’s enforced by law. Pretty people are required to wear masks. Graceful or strong people are required to heavy weights. Brilliant people are shocked every 20 seconds or so, so that they lose what ever train of thought they were working on.
It’s a silly little story, but I think it does satirize a disturbing trend in where we are going in the fight to ensure all Americans are “equal”.
